3 Common Methods of Foundation Repair

Water: every homeowner loves it when it is exactly where it needs to be. In the pipes, in the tub, in the sink, but never in a basement or trickling down their walls. Unfortunately, water damage is all too common, as of all homes with basements, over 98% will experience some type of water damage.

If you are a victim of a wet basement and need to invest in fixing basement leaks, here are the different methods of foundation repairs you can choose from.

Cove joint seepage

A basement’s drain tile system is a common place to experience leaks because it is a gap between where the concrete was originally poured. This cold joint is not waterproofed, and that means when there is a build-up of extra pressure, water can easily seep in. To get around this, you can install an interior drain tile into the joint, with an exterior installed outside the home. These will collect the water that seeps in and then pumps it out and away from the house.

Sump pumps

Sump pumps are great for homes with full basements as they consistently pump water away from the home. How it works is simple; the water runs towards the sump pit, then this mighty machine flows the water out of the basement. The one thing to remember with sump pumps is to always invest in a battery operated backup system in case the power goes out for any reason.

Ejecting epoxy

No matter if you have small foundation cracks spread around the home or part of the concrete is beginning to deteriorate, epoxy is the best way to go. This waterproof material is injected into these cracks and reinforces the concrete so it will hold tough against any water that comes its way.
